Watch out McKayla Maroney.... here comes Avie

Avery had her 2nd tumbling class this morning and once again, it was pure preciousness. I wasn't planning to take pictures so I left my camera at home but I couldn't resist! iPhone to the rescue! How could I miss this?!

I'm having visions of Avery standing on a podium in a pink glittery leotard, holding pretty flowers biting a gold metal.... of course if that vision ended like the picture below I'd probably have to slap her with her metal.

Seriously.... this was so embarrassing to me! She won a SILVER metal in the OLYMPICS! She's an AMAZING gymnast and I was SO proud of our USA gymnast performances but her attitude and body language killed me! I digress...

Back to my one year old's "tumbling class" which is really more like a free for all with equipment I don't own. Don't get my wrong, they have activities and planned obstacle courses but Avery is more into creating her own obstacle courses. Whoops. Clearly she needs more practice in taking direction!

One of the many reasons I love this class is that she's napping HARD by the time we drive out of the parking lot. Today we went to the mall until it was time to pick Parker up and I got to shop in PEACE.

If you have a YMCA in your area, I definitely recommend this toddler tumbling class for kids 1-3ish! I really enjoy the one on one time it allows Avery and I to have. I did Gymboree and MyGym with Parker which were a blast but really only worth the money if you can also do free play. We don't live super close to either facility and I'd have to bring Parker and let him watch his sister play which seems terribly cruel so this YMCA class while P is in school is perfect! 

Spontaneous Train Ride, Sand Box Fun and a Sleepover

Today was one of those days where you have no agenda and then you find yourself gone all day on an adventure. Love those days! The kiddies and I got up, showered, put on presentable attire and headed to the post office. An exciting life we live... I know :)  While on the way there I got a call that my parents were going downtown (Charlotte) to hug my sister and have lunch.... so I invited myself and the kids to join. My sister moved to NYC (tear) and is in Charlotte working on a project for the Democratic National Convention. While I'm not a fan of the DNC shutting down the roads and making traffic a total nightmare (or the candidate causing this mess for that matter), the city looks AMAZING! So thanks for the millions of dollars, Mr. Obama!

 

My sister is doing a great job! Everything looks SO cool and I'm really proud of her! I sure wish she'd fall back in love with Charlotte and never go back to NYC! Charlotte really is a BEAUTIFUL, clean, fun city! I wish we had planned this outing in advance because I just love all of the wonderful photo opportunities downtown. If you've never been to Charlotte, is a GREAT place to go! We parked at my sister's old apartment complex and road the train into the heart of the city. Parker thought is was awesome and was totally content to just do that all day.

Avery fell asleep in the stroller after a yummy lunch at 7th street Market

 We ate lunch and then walked to the space where my sister is working on a production for a big client (I can't say who... so secretive!) It was really neat to go inside and see the fruits of her labor. On the way back to our car, Parker suggested that he go to nana's house to swim with ducks. Nana is a sucker for Parker and agreed so my parents took Parker back to their house for the night. Miss. Avery and I visited a few stores then headed home.

She's become SO strong! I took this video of her climbing the swing set. Please excuse my high pitched "mommy voice." I find talking on camera to be so awkward for some reason!

Don't Take My Starbucks!

On Friday, my mom and I made a quick trip to Target. Of course, no trip to Target would be complete without swinging through the in store Starbucks! Parker knows Starbucks all too well and starts yelling "BOBBY" (which is what he calls soy milk... weird, I know) when he sees any Starbucks. I was trying to search for a cute maternity top and Parker was being fidgety in the cart so, being the mother of the year I am, I handed him my Starbucks (cold drink, obviously!) for a second so I could try on a top and entertain him at the same time. I quickly learned that the apple didn't fall far from the tree when it comes to the love for all things coffee! See for yourself!
